How PNG Compressor works
Files are validated, decoded, resized when requested, and encoded by your browser. The application does not send image files to a server, and animated inputs are rejected instead of silently losing frames.
Make PNG files smaller while keeping transparency
PNG is useful for screenshots, interface graphics and transparent logos. This tool keeps PNG by default and exports it losslessly: lowering the quality slider does not reduce PNG size. Resizing changes the dimensions and can remove fine detail.
A PNG that is already optimized may not get smaller. If the new PNG has the same dimensions and would be larger, your original is kept. For a website that accepts WebP, try PNG to WebP instead; transparent areas are preserved, but lossy WebP can change colors and edges.
How to get a useful result
- Add your PNG files; the default keeps their format.
- For smaller dimensions, set a maximum width in Compression Settings.
- Compare the result and download the PNG, or choose WebP if your destination accepts it.

Frequently asked questions
Can PNG files always be compressed a lot?
No. PNG is usually lossless, and some PNG files are already optimized. Converting to WebP can often reduce the file more, especially for web use.
Will transparency be preserved?
Transparency is preserved when exporting as PNG or WebP. If you export to JPG, transparent areas are flattened onto a white background.
Are PNG images uploaded?
No. Your images are processed locally in your browser. They are not uploaded to a server.
